| Chicken Lolipops | |
Chicken lollipop is an hors d'oeuvre popular in Indian Chinese cuisine. Chicken lollipop is, essentially a frenched chicken winglet, where in the meat is cut loose from the bone end and pushed down creating a lollipop appearance. (Source : Wikipedia)
In restaurants, often the dish is loaded with MSG but you can make them at home without any. This dish is a fusion of Indo-Chinese cuisine. You can either use chicken drumsticks or thighs pieces to make the lollipops.
Ingredients & Method - Marination
- Chicken Drumsticks - 1 Kg. Use a sharp knife to slit the flesh from bone to one side to create a lollipop appearance.
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
- Red Chili Powder - As per taste
- Black Pepper Powder - As per taste
- Salt - As per taste
- Soy Sauce - 1 tbsp
Mix all the ingredients for marination and apply nicely on chicken pieces. Keep in fridge for about 30 minutes.
Ingredients & Method - Frying
- Plain Flour / Maida - 2 tbsp
- Corn Flour - 2 tbsp
- Bread Crumbs - as required
Mix plain flour and cornflour in marinated chicken. Now tap the chicken pieces in breadcrumbs and then deep fry in oil on medium heat. It would take 5-8 minutes depending upon the size of chicken pieces. Fry till they are golden brown.
Serve hot with your favourite dip.
Tips
- You can fry the chicken pieces without the bread crumbs as well.
- You can also apply egg wash before applying bread crumbs.
We have used chicken drumsticks, you can also use thighs pieces or even chicken wings |
With sharp knife deboned the meat from one end and pushed down to make a lolipop shape |
For marinate: red chili, black pepper, ginger garlic paste, salt and soy sauce |
Mix the marinate well on the chicken and keep in refrigerator for 30 minutes |
Now add corn flour and plain flour to marinated chicken. Tap the chicken pieces in bread crumbs before frying |
Fry on low to medium heat till golden brown |
